My motherboard is a ASUS Prime Z270-K and the CPU is a I7-6700K. The RAM is Ballistix Sport DDR4-2666. Slots 1 and 2 on my M/B work fine but if I try 1 and 3 or 2 and 4 then all I get is a blank screen. The fans etc are running but nothing is on the screen. I have changed the RAM and the CPU but just the same. Systems shipped with 3GB video RAM (Nvidia GT 450M) will only have 2 DIMM as it has a non 3D video solution. Systems shipped with 3D 3GB Video RAM have 4 DIMM sockets. It is dependent on the video solution that you chose with the system as to what system board will ship and if it will have two or four DIMM slots. TB.

At first I thought it was the RAM upgrade, but that proved not to be the case due to the fact that the 2nd stick of RAM works just fine in slot 1, and the original RAM that came with the PC does NOT work if placed in slot 2. In fact, if ANY piece of RAM is placed into slot 2, the computer is unable to establish a connection with the monitor. First: Open up, take both RAM DIMMs out. LABEL the DIMMs (No. 1 and No. 2). RAM mismatch in macbook pro early 2011. I tried to put two 4GB sticks (OWC) into a MacBook Pro early 2011 17 inch. Either of the 4GB sticks works with either of the stock 2GB sticks but both the 4GB sticks do not work. It causes kernel panics. Firmware is already at the latest version (MBP81.0047.B27). I am well aware of fitment process. If you go into BIOS and press the "F9" key when you are at the BIOS homescreen another window opens and shows you some more detailed information. If you do this you will be able to find which BIOS version you are running. It will be either F1, F2, F3, F4 or FA or FB. depending on the revision of the motherboard. B ram slots didnt work. tried rebuilding cpu, easing off heatsink, updating bios, lowering timing. maybe its something i did to it? updating bios wouldnt work except through the internet, including trying name changes (maybe i didn't capitalize?) pins are bent.
